DEVELOPERS behind plans to create a huge £1.7bn innovation district in Manchester city centre have unveiled new images of what the finished project could look like as a public consultation opens.
As part of a joint venture between The University of Manchester and Bruntwood SciTech, the ID Manchester district would be nestled by the Mancunian Way and Piccadilly Station. It could see some four million square feet of land transformed into an education and retail district alongside a substantial amount of residential homes.
Illustrative masterplans unveiled last month highlighted that some two million of those square feet would be earmarked for commercial uses and would sit alongside the creation of 1,500 new homes.
