RESIDENTS NOT SHOCKED BY STAGGERING COSTS

MANY Manchester residents are already aware of just how expensive it has become to live in the city over recent years.

With the average rent now a staggering £1,600 a month, food prices, energy bills and mortgage repayments hitting record highs, a lack of a London weighting pay scale has left a lot of Mancunians struggling to keep up.

So when the M.E.N published details of a new study, revealing people in Manchester have the lowest disposable income in the UK nobody seemed surprised.

The research, conducted by Money Supermarket, found that Mancunians are typically spending nearly 80 per cent of their income after tax on things like food, rent, bills and travel costs compared to just 66pc for those living in London.

Reacting to the story on social media, many people living in Manchester, or just outside of the city, told of just how unaffordable it is becoming.
