A COUNCILLOR has vowed to get the 'criminal poison' out of suburb after a 'targeted and reckless' shooting.
An investigation is underway after officers responded to reports of the suspected shooting on Rochdale Road in Harpurhey at around 11.20pm on Sunday.
It is thought that shots were fired at a property and no injuries were reported. However, police believe the shooting was 'targeted! A cordon was in place on Fernclough Road yesterday while Tactical Aid Unit officers carried out investigations with sniffer dogs also used. Patrols have also been increased in the area.
Harpurhey councillor, Pat Karney, has reacted with 'alarm' at the incident, which he says has deeply worries local residents. He told the M.E.N: "We welcome the extra police patrols in Harpurhey.
