Nonetheless, a week ago I found myself standing beneath the majestic skeleton of a sperm whale that hangs above the Living Worlds Gallery in Manchester Museum. It's quite an imposing sight, particularly as the rest of the gallery features hundreds of taxidermied animals of all shapes, sizes and origins.
