Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday urged the 16th Finance Commission to provide liberal financial assistance to the state for a faster and sustainable development of the state and the needs of the hill state for expansion of the infrastructure, apart from boost to the rural economy.
Making a presentation on behalf of the state before the Commission, which is on a three-day visit here, the Chief Minister highlighted some of the critical issues affecting the region’s development and growth areas.
He emphasised that it was necessary to develop the areas bordering China to ensure national security and provide basic facilities to the people of the border areas to check their exodus.
The state government gave a detailed presentation on the financial needs and various important issues pertaining to the state to the 16th Finance Commission.
The recommendations of the commission will be crucial for the state in the next five years.
