The insurgents, dressed in camouflage uniforms and armed with sophisticated weapons, launched an attack on the Borobekra police station and a nearby CRPF camp in Jiri-bam district. The assailants opened lire indiscriminately, leading to a heavy exchange of fire with the security forces stationed there.
Two CRPF personnel sustained injuries during the clash, with one identified as Constable Sanjeev Kumar, whose condition remains critical. Authorities reported that he was evacuated to Silchar Medical College in Assam for treatment.
The militants, in a coordinated series of attacks, also torched several shops and homes in the vicinity of Iakurador Karong market, located just 100 metres from the Borobekra police station. As security forces retaliated, the gun battle intensified, ultimately resulting in the death of 11 suspected militants.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Manipur Police provided details ofthe incident, confirming the attack occurred around 3 pm on November 11, 2024. "The CRPF Post located at Iakuradhor and Borobekra Police Station were attacked by armed militants. The securitv forces retaliated strongly.
