Making Sense of a Wise Saint
Millennium Post Kolkata|Kolkata 05January2025
In The Notebook of Kabir, Anand, disenchanted by caste, sets forth on a soulful journey of self-discovery through Kabir's timeless songs that rekindle his love for music, poetry, and a broader spiritual exploration. Excerpts:

Step by step by step, I reached this kingdom. My soul has climbed to its final freedom. My true love has revealed to me such signs. I cannot capture their truth with these lines.

IKabir, and through him the singer of this song, Mahesha Ram, assert at the outset that the truth they witness cannot be captured in words. This is stated as an absolute truth, as a matter of fact, as a fact of nature, as a non-negotiable state of affairs, as a matter of existence, as an irrefutable first principle, as the fundamental premise. They then go on to disavow this truth, and offer five perspicuous and definitive ways in which this elusive truth can be actually uttered and sung, and thus be inhabited.
