Funding slows in closing week of 2024

Overall funding activity in the last week of the year was quieter, slipping to almost one-third of last week's funding value, data collated by VCCircle showed.

Companies backed by venture capital and private equity firms cumulatively secured about $130 million during the week ended 27 December, due to smaller cheque sizes and weaker volumes. Total number of deal announcements slipped to 14 versus the preceding week's 25. However, a key announcement was that of Canadian pension fund investor Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan's (OTPP) 33% stake buy in healthcare-focused IT company Omega Health Management Services Pvt Ltd.
