One day at about 4:30 am, I received a text message that one of my city police officers had been shot while confronting a perpetrator in a domestic abuse call. I immediately went into my police chaplain mode and started praying for the officer and his family. I also prayed for the entire department and their families as well. Then I prayed for the perpetrator's family because of their loss, but I didn't stop there. You see, I also prayed for the woman and her children, who were and had been abused for years by the perpetrator. This will be a lifelong trauma for her and her children. I hope and pray they will seek to counsel and know that God will help them overcome this nightmare.
