Now that the well-deserved congratulatory message has been extended-- let's talk about the dark sides of Chester High’s Homecoming Celebration. And a celebration is just what it is! Folks come from out of state, surrounding municipalities, and counties to participate in the Chester High Homecoming Celebration. Its reputation for excellence is so popular it rivals the homecoming celebration of any Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
Were there some hiccups with this year’s celebration? Certainly, there will always be complaints, opinions, and varying points of view, but that’s to be expected.
There were complaints about the scalpers buying up blocks of tickets and selling them at three, four, and in some cases, five times the ticket price. There were rumors that members of the opposing team were responsible for the sale of some of those overpriced tickets. All of this, if proven accurate, is sad, and those involved should check their moral compass, because any human being who would arbitrarily set out to take advantage of their community (be it their neighborhood or sporting) isn’t in the best soul space.
