Senator Casey has a track record for fighting every day for Pennsylvania families. He’s a strong advocate for policies that improve healthcare and early learning for children and policies that will raise wages for the middle class. Senator Casey serves on four committees, including the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Health Committee, and the Senate Committee on Intelligence. He’s also the Chairman of the Special Committee on Aging--his agenda on aging supports policies that support seniors.
Senator Casey had this to say, “Some may have heard this story before, but it bears repeating. I spent a good deal of time, living and working in North Philly when I was a much younger man just out of college. I was in a volunteer program, I taught at the Gesu School at 17th and Thompson, and I lived at 23rd and Tioga. I was part of the community. I was living and working in this community, teaching 5th graders and coaching an 8th-grade basketball team. I was immersed in North Philly.”
Casey continued, “Every time I come to North Philly, especially the last couple of years. I see that there’s a lot happening here. Mom Your Business is one of those dynamic examples of what’s happening in North Philly. Tanya, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your leadership and the work you did with our team to secure this federal funding, $130,000. Usually, there’s an announcement and then a little bit of a delay before an organization actually receives the funding, but Tanya Morris says her funding has been received.”
