Do you wanna know who the sixth lawmaker was, who has now been taken down? One Republican U.S. Congressman, George Santos, is no longer a member of the House. He has been expelled. He was caught up in so many lies. Where do we start?
The best place to start is by reminding our SCOOP Readers that this civics column is a way to help educate them about how laws are made and how we can all become better citizens. It’s about each and every political election and why all of them are important. It’s about learning our American history and being smart enough to discern when lies are inserted into our “history.” This civics column is about staying on top of current news events that tie back into the Democratic way of life that so many Americans claim we love and want.
When we have elected officials who do wrong, they need to go, and that’s exactly what has happened in the case of one George Santos.
Indicted Republican George Santos, in all reality, had a brief time in Congress, and it all came crashing down Friday, December 1. George Santos' fellow lawmakers voted to expel him over criminal corruption charges and accusations of misspending campaign money. The House voted 311-114 to immediately remove the controversial Freshman lawmaker, above the two-thirds majority required to oust one of its own.
One thing is for certain. When you start telling lies, eventually, your lies will catch up with you, and that’s exactly what happened in the case of former Congressman Santos.
