INDIA OVERCOMES PANDEMIC IMPACT WITH CAPEX BOOST: FM SITHARAMAN

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Tuesday that India is currently the fastest-growing economy in the world, having successfully mitigated the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through a robust capital expenditure (capex) push under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Speaking in Parliament during the ongoing Budget 2024 discussions, Sitharaman countered opposition claims that the budget was discriminatory, affirming that no sector received reduced funding compared to the previous year. She emphasized that the government is adhering to the fiscal deficit trajectory and aims to bring it below 4.5% by the 2025-26 fiscal year.
