The bench comprising of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih in the case observed and has criticized the State of Uttar Pradesh for its failure to adhere to court-imposed deadline with regards to the processing of remission application of the convict.
On April 10, 2024, the court in the case directed the State to decide on the case of petitioner for permanent remission within six weeks.
