Woman in awe of injured monkey's resilience

A World's View resident, closely connected to a local monkey troop, was amazed by the resilience of a baby monkey that survived an electrocution injury that she thought would be fatal.

Tina Wagener, who has lived in the area for the past 20 years, has grown attached to the local vervet troop and enjoys their company in her yard.

She follows their numbers, noticing the drops and rises, as well as the varying injuries inflicted on them.

A few months ago, Wagener noticed a juvenile vervet monkey walking around with a ghastly injury to his front, left lower arm.

Under closer inspection, the injury appeared to have been caused by electrocution, which is not uncommon.

There was an entry wound on the monkey's left hand and exit wound on his left leg.

The injury had caused the fur and flesh on the limb to fall off, leaving the bone exposed up until the elbow joint.
