Bengal junior doctors end ceasework, announce fast-unto-death after 24 hrs
The Daily Guardian|October 05, 2024
"The governing body concluded meeting this morning. We have decided to suspend the total cease work for now, but our demonstrations will continue.
SUPROTIM MUKHERJEE

At the end of another day of fast-paced developments, the agitating junior doctors in West Bengal today called off their "total cease work" keeping the impending Durga Pujas in mind but announced that they would go for indefinite hunger-strike from Saturday evening if the State Government did not replace the State Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam within the next 24 hours. They highlighted the lackadaisical approach of the Mamata Banerjee Government towards fulfilling the doctors' 10-point demand for better security and the end of "threat culture" in the Government-run hospitals.

After holding a governing body meeting throughout Thursday night (October 3, 2024), the junior medics decided to hold a rally on Friday afternoon (October 4, 2024), to announce their decision to withdraw the "total cease work," a source said.
