Denied permission for Jantar Mantar, Sonam Wangchuk sits on fast at Ladakh Bhawan

Wangchuk, in a brief interaction with media before starting the fast, said they were forced to stage the protest at the Ladakh Bhawan after failing to find any venue for their stir.

The climate activist said he has been in a “virtual detention” at the Ladakh Bhawan since they were released by the Delhi Police on the night of October 2. On Sunday, he stepped out of the Ladakh Bhawan around 4 pm and announced he was going to sit on a fast.

“The assurance that we were given to meet the top leadership of the country, we haven’t been given any dates for that. So we were forced to start our hunger strike again which we broke on Rajghat,” he said.
