Wave of discontent hits Congress
Haryana is set for a fiercely competitive, multi-cornered contest as all political parties have announced their candidates for the October 5 Assembly elections. With over 900 nominations filed for the 90 constituencies, the political landscape is gearing up for a heated battle.
In addition to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress, significant alliances have taken shape. The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has partnered with the Azad Samaj Party (ASP) led by Chander Shekhar Azad, while the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has joined hands with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
The BJP and AAP are both contesting all 90 seats, while Congress is fielding candidates in 89 constituencies, leaving one seat in Bhiwani for the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
With the stage set and nominations filed, the final list of candidates will be confirmed after the September 16 deadline for the withdrawal of nominations.
