2025: Jubilee Year of Introspection for Roman Catholics

In accordance with the announcement of the Roman Catholic Church, which is celebrating 2025 as the jubilee year, Archbishop of Bombay Cardinal Oswald Gracias on Sunday kicked off the commemoration with a special mass at the Holy Name Cathedral, Colaba.

The Mumbai archdiocese has around five lakh members.

Observed once every 25 years, the year-long period is meant to renew spiritual lives and reflect on their relationship with God. It is also a time to seek forgiveness for temporal sins, a term used by the church to explain punishments for sins that, if not repented for on earth, will be exacted in full in purgatory.
