Beed, Parbhani issue: Judicial probe ordered

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday ordered a judicial inquiry into the Parbhani violence as well as the killing of the Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.

He announced this while making a joint statement in the state Assembly.

Fadnavis expressed serious concern over both the unfortunate incidents and announced compensation of Rs10 lakh each to the families of the deceased sarpanch Deshmukh and to that of Somnath Suryavanshi, a youth activist arrested in connection with the Parbhani clash who died while in police custody. A police inspector Ashok Ghorband has been suspended pending inquiry to ascertain if he used unwarranted force in the case.
