Speaking exclusively to the FPJ, Memon confirmed accepting the state government's proposal. A criminal lawyer practising for 33 years in the Bombay High Court, Memon said, "India is keenly watching as to what will be the outcome of the trial and whether the guilty will be punished. It is important that all accused get a fair trial and the guilty get severe punishment."
