Polling was held almost peacefully in Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, (reserved for Scheduled Caste), Raigarh (reserved for Scheduled Tribe), Korba and Surguja (reserved for Scheduled Tribe) in the state where elaborate security arrangements were made.
Voters in large numbers enthusiastically exercised their franchise at 15,701 polling stations of seven Lok Sabha seats of the state. In the morning hours, there was a cloudy season. With the sun growing higher in the sky, voters in large numbers reached the polling stations and temperature also increased.
Janjgir-Champa Minor disputes were reported from some polling stations of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
