On a day when some of India's most expectant superstars failed to rise to the occasion at the cavernous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with the Boxing Day Test on the line, a 21-year-old from Visakhapatnam was the unexpected hero as he struck a sensational maiden hundred for the ages that has given India a glimmer of hope.
The name is Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been impressing commentators and former greats with his eye-catching 40s on a few occasions in the series thus far but on a day when India were looking down the barrel at 191/6, Nitish stood up to be counted.
