A young couple from Chembur have been arrested for allegedly murdering a 72-year-old retired banker at his residence at Shrivardhan, Raigad. The deceased, Ramdas Govind Khaire, lived alone. As per the police, the woman had contacted Khaire 18 months ago on finding out that he was looking for an alliance following the death of his second wife.
On December 1, a resident of Shrivardhan, Prajot Jadhav, was contacted by one of Khaire's sons from Mumbai, asking him to check on him as his phone had not been reachable. Jadhav found Khaire dead at his residence in Kundan Residency and informed the police.
