The Mumbai crime branch has invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the Baba Siddique murder case. The stringent Act has been applied to all 26 arrested accused. Notably, confessions made to the police under MCOCA are admissible as evidence in court, and it is difficult for the accused to obtain bail under it.
Besides the arrested accused, three suspects are wanted in the case - Shubham Lonkar, Zeeshan Akhtar, and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's brother, Anmol Bishnoi, who is now under arrest in the US. The MCOCA has already been invoked against him.
