Four major hospitals that come under the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) have increased medical charges even as the poor are yet to recover from the confusion over the cancellation of Below Poverty Line ration cards that extended free food grains and various other benefits.

Hospital fee hike: Sidda in a spot

The hike in medical charges is a part of the state government's mandate to increase fees across all health services in all its hospitals across Karnataka.

Four hospitals - Victoria, Vani Vilas, Minto Eye Hospital and the Super Specialty Hospital and Trauma Centre under the BMCRI are the first to implement the rule.
