According to police, the patient was struggling to breathe when the doctor suggested inserting a nasogastric tube and this was resisted by some family members, resulting in a scuffle.
Dr Dinesh Gini Gandhi registered a First Information Report (FIR) late on Thursday night. According to him, Farooq Ibrahim Shaikh, 54, had been admitted to the hospital on May 16, for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and kidney injury.
ARDS is a life-threatening lung injury that makes breathing difficult for sufferers, as it prevents oxygen from entering the body. On July 21, Shaikh’s condition worsened.
