Mamata says she is ready to resign
The Free Press Journal|September 13, 2024
An exasperated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, back to the wall, tried to deflect the political heat on Thursday by saying that she is ready to resign, if it serves the interest of the common people of the state.

Mamata says she is ready to resign

The remark came even as the deadlock over talks to end a boycott by junior doctors persisted making her position politically untenable.

"In the interest of the people, I am ready to step down. I do not want the post of the Chief Minister. I want justice for Tilottama. And I want common people to get medical treatment," the Chief Minister said at a Press conference.

The reason for feeling flustered was for all to see: the protesting doctors refused to hold a meeting with the chief minister, even after reaching the state secretariat Nabanna, after the state adminrefused 'live istration streaming of the talks. Mamata contended that 'live streaming' was refused as the matter is sub judice.
