The Karnataka government on Sunday set up a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the obscene video clips of women recorded by Prajwal Revanna, sitting JD(S) Lok Sabha member and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
Meanwhile, Prajwal has left the country. On Friday, he boarded a plane to Frankfurt, Germany, as per the information available from sources at the Kempegowda International Airport at Bengaluru.
The 33-year-old Lok Sabha member was disqualified by the High Court on September 1, 2023, for errors in his general election affidavit when he contested for the first time in 2019. Later he obtained a stay from the Supreme Court. He is the son of HD Revanna, former minister and MLA and nephew of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.
The SIT will be headed by Crime Investigation Department Additional Director General of Police Bijay Kumar Singh.
An order issued by the government said that all cases filed by the victims anywhere in the State will be transferred to the SIT. The team will recruit any other officers required for the purpose of investigation by using the resources available in the CID. The Director General of Police (CID) will supervise the investigation.
