NGO seeks protection of depositors from digital frauds in Budget '25

In light of the alarming rise in digital banking frauds, Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP), a leading consumer organisation, has called on Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to implement stronger protections for bank depositors in the upcoming Union Budget 2025-26, scheduled for February 1, 2025.

MGP highlighted a staggering eightfold increase in bank transaction frauds, citing a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) report. From Rs2,632 crore in April-September 2023, they rose to Rs21,367 crore in April-September 2024.
