Old tactics, new challenge

India open their campaign in the latest edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in what is being headlined as an easy breezy group stage walkway into the tournament on Big Sam's virgin New York territory.

This is a territory where Team India plays three of its four group stage matches on pitches that have been curated in Adelaide, flown across the Atlantic, matured in the sunny climes of Florida and then trailer transported all the way to New York to adorn the middle of an imposing cricket stadium at Nassau. County.

India's New York State of mind will be roused, but hopefully not ruffled, by its inaugural match in the tournament, against Ireland on Wednesday.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and his band of warriors both young and veteran, will pad up for the soirée in a day match against Paul Stirling and his men at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in Long Island before they get going on the top billed clash against Pakistan.
