In a significant educational shift, 229,747 students across Gujarat transitioned from private to government schools during the 2024-25 academic session, according to a statement released by the state government on Monday.

This trend reflects the growing confidence in the state's public education system, bolstered by increased budget allocations and technological advancements in govt schools.

Among the urban centers, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) led the way with the highest number of students moving to government schools, totaling 37,786. This was followed by Surat Municipal Corporation, which saw 22,892 students make the switch. Vadodara Municipal Corporation and Rajkot Municipal Corporation also reported significant transitions, with 10,602 and 6,204 students, respectively.
