The BMC on Tuesday informed the Bombay High Court that it will grant an ad hoc compensation of Rs10 lakh to the parents of Ankush Wagari, 5, and his younger brother Arjun, 4, who drowned in an open water tank in a civic garden on March 17. The BMC counsel told a bench of Justices Gautam Patel and Kamal Khata that the compensation amount will be paid by the contractor, who was responsible for maintaining the Maharshi Karve Garden when the incident took place. On a court query, the counsel said that the water tank is now properly covered.
