The debate around whether Veer Savarkar was a freedom fighter or a traitor was again revived on Thursday when the Centre announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be inaugurating a number of projects in Delhi on Friday, including a Delhi University college named after Savarkar in Najafgarh.
While the Government of India press release made a simple mention of the college inauguration in the last paragraph, it was the Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan's post on "X" about the college named after Savarkar which brought the issue into focus.
