The move is part of an international plan to conserve the site, drawn up by the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) and Historic England and published yesterday.
The plan said the Endurance would be preserved in situ, all activity would be undertaken with the aim of preserving and enhancing the site, and nothing would be taken from the wreck or the surrounding area.
The biodiversity, habitats and ecology of the wreck, which is home to sea anemones, sea lilies, starfish and sponges, would be recorded and preserved.
