TENNIS players in Torpoint have been served up a treat with the official reopening of two courts in the Cornish town, after a £60,000 renovation.
Torpoint's Mayor Gary Davis and Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, were among those picking up racquets to mark the reopening of the new courts at Thanckes Park, together with representatives from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Torpoint Town Council.
Funding for the scheme came from the Department of Culture Media and Sport, together with the LTA Tennis Foundation, Torpoint Town Council and donations collected locally.
The courts have undergone extensive work, including resurfacing, repainting, new nets and a gate system, and have been brought back into use as part of the LTA's Parks Tennis Project.
