PLANS to create a new community hub to serve Devonport are moving ahead, and proposals have been submitted to transform the sports centre at Brickfields.
Plymouth Argyle Community Trust’s plans aim to create a place where people can enjoy health and wellbeing facilities and access advice and services – but it will mean the sports centre will be temporarily closed from September 1.
The trust is working with current operators Plymouth Active to ensure there is as little disruption as possible for current users.
From September 1, multi-site Plymouth Active members can continue to use Plymouth Life Centre and Plympton Pool and Gym, while single-site members will transfer automatically to Plymouth Life Centre at no extra cost.
The new hub is being created as part of a partnership between Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Argyle Football Club, Plymouth Argyle Community Trust, Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club and Devonport Community Leisure Ltd.
