The 25-year-old modern pentathlete from Plymouth finished ninth in Paris having set an Olympic record with her points tally in the semifinal.
She was unable to continue that momentum into the final, clipping a couple of fences in the showjumping round and finishing last in her 200m freestyle swim to drop out of medal contention.
But Bryson, who combined her Paris preparations with medical school, dug in admirably on the laser run and admitted to having "mixed emotions' in the aftermath of a gruelling event.
"I'm really disappointed because T came here to try and get a medal," she said"With my performances this season and how I was feeling, T thought I was capable of getting one.
