THE curtain has come down on a ladies choir which has been going for 75 years, after they couldn't find volunteers for two roles.
Saltash Ladies Choir have sung their last song as they were unable to fill vacancies of secretary and treasurer at their recent AGM.
Sheila Smith, chairman for several years, has also been covering the secretary's duties as a temporary stop-gap. But at last week's AGM, Mrs Smith said the committee had previously agreed that if there were no volunteers to fill those roles, then the choir in accordance with its constitution would have no option but to disband.
A spokesperson for the choir said: "It is with a heavy heart and soul, that after three-quarters of a century that our wonderful ladies choir is closing. The Saltash Ladies Choir has been pivotal to musicality at its best in Saltash and further afield, and has been a great ambassador to charitable and worthy causes throughout seven-and-a-half decades.
