NEW homes in Liskeard are among those which have been bought by Cornwall Council so they can be rented exclusively to local people.
Six homes in Charter Walk, built by Wain Homes, are among 11 properies which have been snapped up by the authority - a mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties to become "good old fashioned council houses for local people"
"Cornwall has a housing crisis," said Councillor Olly Monk, Cornwall Council's portfolio holder for housing and planning.
"We have managed to purchase six properties from Wain Homes at Charter Walk in Liskeard as part of our effort to buy up as many properties as we can and flip them straight into good old-fashioned council houses."
He added: "We know that local people could be waiting for years to find adequate, affordable housing in their local areas.
