Daley is ready to wave the flag for Team GB

TOM Daley has been announced as one of Team GB’s flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The former Plymouth College student will join rower Helen Glover, from Penzance, in carrying the Union Flag at tonight’s flotilla procession down the River Seine, in the French capital.

The 30-year-old will become the first diver ever to carry the nation’s flag at an Olympic ceremony. Daley will also become the first athlete from aquatics since swimmer Mark Foster in 2008.
