THE owner of Drake's Island has revealed he hopes to create a destination resort by building two hotels, a museum and a wellbeing centre on the iconic island in Plymouth Sound.
Morgan Phillips, who acquired the land in 2019, has reaffirmed his desire to create a new luxury resort in Plymouth. In a recent interview with Westward Shipping News, the Devon businessman confirmed he still had aspirations to transform the island into a tourist destination.
Mr Phillips also said the overall development may not be completed until 2027. He previously put the cost of the development of the island at £17million to £22million, including the undisclosed cost of buying the island, which had a guide price of £6million.
