A PLYMOUTH man who has completed his seventh aid mission to Ukraine said the nature of the war has changed, and that missiles are being sent into areas hundreds of miles from the frontline.
Andreas Evangelou recently returned from the latest aid mission, delivering food, medicines, and supplies for animal rescue centres inundated with dogs left homeless, after their owners were evacuated from flooded areas in Kherson.
But while Mr Evangelou usually ventures as far as Kyiv, he has had to be more cautious on his latest trip, with air raid sirens even in Lutsk, some 600 miles from the frontline.
The escalated nature of the conflict reflects Ukraine's efforts at taking the war into Russia itself by sending missiles and drones into Moscow's financial district, he said.
"It was a bit hairy at certain points, but the whole trip was more hairy," he said.
"There were a lot more sirens in Lutsk. It's a different war now.
