Former PM gives his evidence to hearing

BORIS Johnson left the Privileges Committee hearing flanked by supporters and his legal team after a lengthy session in front of MPs yesterday.

Allies of the former prime minister had earlier criticised Labour MP Harriet Harman's leadership of the committee and the process of the investigation.

Senior Tory Jacob Rees-Mogg said her position as chairwoman was "absurd" and added that describing the process as a kangaroo court was "being very rude to marsupials".

Ms Harman was criticised over an April 2022 tweet in which she suggested that by accepting a fine for breaking Covid rules the former prime minister was also admitting to misleading the House.
