STEVEN Schumacher and Ryan Lowe will put their long-time friendship to one side on Saturday when their respective clubs, Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End, take on each other.
The fixture at Deepdale will be the first time that Lowe has come up against the Pilgrims since he left them to take over at Preston in December 2021.
Schumacher could have followed Lowe to Preston and continued as his assistant manager, as he did during promotion-winning stints at first Bury and then Argyle, but instead replaced him in the Home Park hot-seat.
Now, 21 months later, Lowe has Preston at the top of the Championship while Argyle, the 2022/23 League One title winners, are in 10th position.
It is no wonder, therefore, the pair are viewed as two of the top young managerial talents in the country and tipped for even more success in the future.
Argyle director of football Neil Dewsnip has worked very closely with Lowe and Schumacher and has outlined the strong bond that still remains between them ahead of the match at Deepdale this weekend.
