Grace is centre stage at celebration of city's female music talent

IT’S a week to go to the reopening of the Millennium – the former cinema/nightclub at the end of Union Street – when, over the course of three weeks there will be a series of nine events featuring music, comedy, film and DJ nights.

Called the Awakening, the series of shows is being staged to allow insight into how the building will work as a live venue and it’s a brilliant opportunity for punters to experience live performance in this spectacular space.

Next Friday sees the staging of All Woman Night that will showcase the abundance of female talent in the city. Headlining the event is singer/ songwriter Grace Lightman who relocated from London to Plymouth a few years ago and is now a major player on the local scene.

Grace will be delivering tracks from her latest EP, Deliver Me from Even Caring, which she launched last summer with a gig at Cosmic Kitchen.

“Last August I turned 30 and the EP is a bit of a souvenir to my 20s,” explains Grace. “It’s an ode to that decade of my life, looking back with fondness, but also bringing me into the next era.”

Musically the EP reflects many of the music that inspired Grace during her 20s and teens.
