THE city's head of children's services is leaving the council after just a year in the post. Sharon Muldoon, Strategic Director of Children's Services at Plymouth City Council, has announced she will be leaving the council on September 1 for personal reasons.
Ms Muldoon joined the council 12 months ago with a brief to transform the department which had suffered criticism from Ofsted. The council says she has already made significant changes to improving outcomes for children, young people and their families, by modernising education and children's services and addressing the issues which had been raised by government inspectors.
And she is confident that thanks to the foundations that have been laid, improvements to the service will continue to be made as her changes take hold.
