Paignton, the long-term leaders in a division with just one promotion place, lost for the first time this season when Sandford 2nd XI beat them by 32 runs.
Ivybridge went three points clear of Paignton on the strength of this win. Cornwood, 21 points further back in third place, might just be back in contention too.
Yelverton, down in the bottom two with Plymouth 2nd XI for company, were all out for 154 in the last of their 45 overs.
Arthur Johnson (4-31) reduced Yelverton to 19 for three singlehanded before Ben Grove (21), Martin Goff (34) and Deepanshu Ghlawat (85) started a fightback.
Clive Parsons added 20 more lower down prior to Johnson (4-31) and Abraham Kopparambil (3-15) wrapping things up.
Harvey Johnson (59) and Kopparambil (20) made early inroads into the deficit. By the time Johnson was second out on 115 the writing was on the wall for Yelverton.
Zach Dunn was 51 not out when the winning runs were scored.
■ CORNWOOD revived their promotion hopes with a 111-run win over Ashburton.
Robin Dart, the Cornwood captain, was on the verge of abandoning promotion hopes before the change of leadership opened things up.
“The promotion race might go all the way for once,” said Dart.
“It has become tighter at the top and there are some big games – Paignton among them – coming up in the next five weeks.
“We have just got to keep doing our thing…”
Sam Griffiths hit the top score of 68 for Cornwood in their total of 215 for seven.
Opener Max Finzel (37) and Griffiths put on 45 for the third wicket, only for the innings to stall briefly on 88 for four.
Griffiths kept going – he was sixth out on 160 – and there was a top-up stand of 62 unbroken at the end between youngster Stan Baker (41) and Harry Woolway (22).
Alex Hayman (2-27) was the lone Ashburton bowler with more than one wicket to his name.
