A SCULPTURE made up of thousands of discarded vapes has been displayed at Plymouth’s railway station.
The five-foot sculpture of a seahorse – named The Ballad of Lost Mary – has been shown across the city since June, with Plymouth Railway Station acting as its final stop before disassembly.
After being disassembled, the 4,500 vapes that were used in its construction will be recycled.
Every single one of the vapes was collected by the Clean Our Patch Community Interest Company in 2023.
These voluntary litter-picking efforts were then combined with Andrew Stevens-Lock’s artistic vision to produce a statue that group founders, Ash Samuels and El Clarke, deemed, “symbolic of... the blight of single-use items within society.”
