PLYMOUTH city centre is to get extra patrols in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour and help people to feel safer.
It will see more police and Plymouth Against Retail Crime (PARC) officers in some of the city's crime hotspots. They will focus on 16 areas identified by analysing crime data from the last year. Members of the public can expect to see extra police patrols along with uniformed community patrols, such as marshals and street wardens.
The patrols are being funded through Plymouth's portion of £1 million in Home Office cash received by Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner to reduce antisocial behaviour and serious violence. Plymouth City Council said it will give residents "peace of mind".
